The Bunker Hill Covered Bridge crossed Big Gunpowder Falls on Bunker Hill Road, about 1.1 miles northwest of Hereford in Baltimore County. A 110-foot Burr arch truss built in 1880 and rehabilitated in 1947, it was destroyed by arson on November 17, 1961. The Baltimore County Historical Society persuaded the county to rebuild; in 1963 the Lee Foundation Co. erected a 107-foot replacement on the original abutments for $28,500 under County Executive Spiro T. Agnew. That bridge too was burned by arsonists on August 7, 1971, and was not rebuilt; the stone abutments remain today.
