Old Red Covered Bridge, Gibson County, Indiana
The Old Red Covered Bridge is a single-span Smith Type IV Truss bridge over Big Bayou Creek in southern Gibson County, Indiana, built in 1875 by William T. Washer. The 160-foot span rests on local sandstone abutments reinforced with concrete, with two middle piers approximately 16 feet tall providing additional support. The bridge was bypassed in 1976.
