Pulp Mill or Paper Mill Covered Bridge, Addison County, Vermont

The Pulp Mill Covered Bridge (also called Paper Mill Covered Bridge) crosses Otter Creek between Middlebury and Weybridge, Vermont on Seymour Street. Originally built in the 1820s as a single-span Burr arch design, it is one of only seven double-barreled (two-lane) covered bridges in the United States and one of only two in Vermont. The bridge underwent major modifications around 1860 when original Burr arches were replaced with laminated arches on King post trusses, and later had two piers added to create three spans to address design flaws.
