Lynchburg Covered Bridge, Highland County, Ohio
The Lynchburg Covered Bridge is a one-span Long truss wooden bridge spanning the East Fork of the Little Miami River on the Highland-Clinton County line, built in 1870 by John C. Gregg. Following a 1963 demolition threat, community advocacy led to its preservation. The bridge was retired from active service in 1969 when a new bridge opened; it was added to the National Register of Historic Places on March 16, 1976, and has since become a community gathering place. Rehabilitation began in January 2022, with the bridge remaining closed for the duration of the project and estimated completion in fall 2022.
