Union Covered Bridge, Monroe County, Missouri
Union Covered Bridge is a Burr-arch truss structure built in 1871 over the Elk Fork of the Salt River in Monroe County, Missouri, and is the only surviving example of Burr-arch truss design in the state. The bridge was constructed by Joseph Elliott using locally sourced oak wood at a cost of $5,500, opening on September 17, 1871. It has survived multiple flood events and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1970.
