Stoney Morrell Covered Bridge, Carroll County, New Hampshire
Photograph: Brian Gregory
Built in 1999 by master bridgewright Arnold Graton, this Town lattice truss bridge is 36 feet long and was designed as an authentic demonstration of traditional covered bridge construction. It was displayed at the 1999 Smithsonian Folklife Festival in Washington, D.C. and subsequently relocated to Kennett High School in North Conway, NH. Despite traveling over 1,200 miles, the bridge has never had vehicular traffic cross its deck.
