Buskirks Covered Bridge, Rensselaer County, New York

The Buskirk Bridge is a 164-foot single-span Howe truss wooden covered bridge crossing the Hoosick River between the hamlet of Buskirk in Rensselaer County and the Town of White Creek in Washington County. Built in 1850 by Peter O. Ostehauth, Charles Newman, James B. Robert, and Charles F. Ingalls to replace an earlier Burr arch truss structure, it is maintained under joint agreement by Washington and Rensselaer Counties and is identified as perhaps the earliest surviving Howe truss bridge in New York State. The bridge was moved in 1857 and rebuilt in May 2005.
