Switzer Covered Bridge, Franklin County, Kentucky
Switzer Covered Bridge is Franklin County's only covered bridge, spanning North Elkhorn Creek near Switzer, Kentucky. Built in 1855 by George Hockensmith as a 120-foot Howe truss design with 11-foot width, it features sawtooth edges at each entrance with lattice pinned by trunnels. The bridge was restored in 1906 and 1990, closed to motor traffic in 1954, flooded in 1997, and rebuilt in 1998-1999.
