Utica Covered Bridge, Frederick County, Maryland
Photograph: Brian Gregory
The Utica Covered Bridge crosses Fishing Creek in Frederick County, Maryland, and features a Burr arch truss design. Built around 1850 using one of the recovered spans from Devilbiss Covered Bridge (built in 1843 and destroyed in a storm in 1889), it retains the original timbers despite being moved to this location in 1891. It stands as one of three covered bridges remaining in Frederick County and is located in the foothills of the Catoctin Mountains near Thurmont.
