Rapps Dam Covered Bridge, Chester County, Pennsylvania

Rapp's Covered Bridge crosses French Creek on Rapp's Dam Road in East Pikeland Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania, near the Montgomery County border. Built in 1866 using Burr Arch design, the bridge was named for George Rapp (and his son George A. Rapp according to one source), who operated a nearby mill (identified as either Snyder's Mill or a sawmill and gristmill in different sources). The bridge underwent rehabilitation in 1978 and was rebuilt in 2011. It was closed in April 2014 after a semi-truck damaged the support beams, followed by rehabilitation in 2015. Another truck incident resulted in a temporary closure in 2021, with the bridge reopening later that year.
